Interest rates Simplified

Financial experts always say to always check on the interest rates when we borrow money whether on a loan or the usage of credit cards. The rule of thumb for interest rate is that the lower it is the better it is for the borrower. To put it simply, interest rates is the money being charged by the lending company for the use of their money. Usually, it is expressed in an annual percentage of the money borrowed or what is called as the principal.
Interest rates are computed by dividing the total amount of interest against the amount of the money borrowed. To make it clearer, let’s say that you borrowed some money from the bank where the bank charges you $90 as interest for a year on a $1000 loan. You will be able to compute the interest rate by dividing $90 over $1000 which will result to 0.09. To make that into percent value you have to multiply it to 100% which will result to 9%. So in this example, the interest rate for the $1000 that you had borrowed from the bank is 9%.
There are several reasons on why many would chose to borrow money and pay interest but the bottom line is all the same, it is because they need the money to spend now and can’t afford to wait for a couple of years to save that amount of money. The most common example is when a person decides to buy a house but still does not have the capacity to pay the house in full payment. They can still be homeowners now by taking on a mortgage or applying a loan and using the money from the loan to pay the house in full instead of waiting a couple of years to save up and buy the house. It is also common for businesses to borrow money with interest for additional capital.
There are several factors in determining interest rates. One factor on why interest rates will increase is because there is an increase in the demands of credit. Similarly, interest rates will decrease if there is a decrease in the demand for credit. So basically it all boils down to supply and demand.
Here is a clear example on how it works, when a person decides not to pay their credit card bill for this month and pushes it to the next month or even on a later date, that person is affected by paying higher interest and also increases the interest rates as dictated by the economy. This is because by not paying, the amount of credit or money available in the market is decreased. So it’s safe to say that the more people who opt not to pay their credit card bills on time endanger the increase of interest rates of the economy.
Interest rates are also affected by inflation. When inflation rate is high, it is most likely that the interest rates will also be high. This happens when the lending company will ask for higher interest rates to make sure that they are properly compensated even if there is a decrease in their money’s purchasing power when it is repaid in the future. Purchasing power is the ability to buy more from the amount of money. For example a candy that costs $1 now can cost $5 in the future which means that the money’s purchasing power is decreased because the same candy cannot be bought with the same amount.
The government can also affect the decrease or increase of interest rates. Which part of the government does this job? In the US it is the Federal Reserve or popularly known as the Fed. They decide on the connection between monetary policy and the interest rates.
In order for a person to get more out of their loans, it is important for them to understand interest rates. Borrowing money is not as simple as getting the money and paying it in the future. What makes it complicated is the interest rate and it helps to know and understand the nature of interest rates.

Friendship- A Gift of God

As the famous saying goes that “no man is an island”, as human beings we need social interactions from other people, more importantly we need friendship. In fact, friendship is what we believe as gift from God and one that should be cherished in our lives. Without the warmth of having friends, our lives can be empty and feels like we are living in a black hole sucking us into oblivion of coldness. Yes, the world is indeed a better place if you have friends by your side.
Ever since we were in kindergarten or even younger, our parents and teachers encourages us to make friends with others and develop a certain bond with another person. When they say that parents know best because they had been in the same situation as you are once in their lives, they mean it. So their insistence of us having friends even at an early age is because they only want the best for us. And it is true when they say that having good friends and strong bond of friendship with another person is probably one of the best things that would happen to us in our lives.
Friends are not just there for you to talk to and play with or interact it but they are also there when you need someone to lean on. When you feel that the world around you doesn’t understand and accept you for who you are, you have your friends to count on and back you up. At one point in our lives, most especially true for teenagers, we even value our friends than our parents who don’t seem to understand us. Friendship feeds our soul to be strong when the going gets tough. It is also proven to make our lives longer.
Studies have shown that the happier the person is, the longer their chances if living as they become healthier. Majority of people when asked, what’s important in their lives, you would often hear friendship as one of their answers. Simply put, our friends make us happy and help us in the most trying times in our lives. For that reason alone, they can be already considered as gifts from God. But then again that is not the only reason why we should maintain good friendship with others.
The list could go on and on when it comes to friendship but as the list goes on, one always top the list of things to be thankful for when we have friends and that is because they are sent from above and one that should be cherished for a lifetime.

An Account of our experience with TYPHOON PEPENG

I wrote this when the internet is down and now that i am able to access the neat again... i guess it is but proper for me to share a full account of what we had been through....

I don’t know where to start… it gives me so much pain to even reminisce the reality that we had been facing for the past few days. But it is needed. For one I know most of you are concerned about our situation especially since it is all over the news that Baguio city and Dagupan City is under the state of calamity and had been under too much stress and pain lately. First of all, I want to thank everybody who had prayed for our family’s safety and for all those who are concerned. I will be forever grateful that we were included in your prayers. I believed that it is through our combined prayers that I and my family were out of harm’s way.
When I was watching the news about typhoon Ondoy I thanked God that we were not as affected as the people in Metro Manila. I even shed some tears and felt that it is but proper for me to help in these trying times. So my husband and I agreed that we will try to donate as much as our budget would allow us so that we can help our fellow Filipino brothers and sisters. It’s sort of our way of saying thank you that we are not one of those who suffered.
Less than a week later came typhoon Peping. More than 5 days ago, it was raining nonstop due to the typhoon. At that time my only concern was it was so cold here in Baguio that I wanted to go home to Dagupan city so I could work properly. Since Baguio is located on a mountain top, it is really cold and the temperature could be tough. It was so cold that I am already wearing three jackets and some thermal pants that I can still fell the coldness seeping in. the problem is I can barely work when it is cold because of my cesarean operation and my scoliosis. Sometimes, if it’s too cold, I cannot even move because it hurts to move. So I decided that I will go home to Dagupan so I can work on a better temperature, since it was raining hard, my husband said not to push through. It was a good thing that I listened else I would have been buried alive in the series of landslides that happened.
I was thankful that I did not push through but at the same time was also worried for the safety of my family. I first found out that our house is flooded through my sister. At first I said well it might just be one of the yearly floods because Dagupan City does have the tendency to get flooded at least 5 times a year. Sometimes, it would reach up to the waist level but still nothing so serious and deadly like the one that happened in Manila with Typhoon Ondoy. I was dead wrong and wished that I never assumed.
At around 12 noon time, my sister called me again and said that the house was flooded knee deep inside the house. I knew then that something was wrong because our house was sort of elevated and designed in such a way that the normal flood will not enter the house. I was already in a state of panic and wished that I was with my mom and sisters at the moment. I told them to go and plead with our neighbors so they could stay with them for their safety. Our neighbors agreed and all of them stayed in the second floor of our neighbor’s house because the water is almost ten feet high already. I was not able to call them until 4 in the afternoon because city services in Dagupan and Baguio were down which meant that I can’t call the land line phone and the cell phones were all out of reach plus the fact that all of our cell phone batteries were dead.
I have to borrow a couple of cell phones from my neighbors for me to be able to call them. When I spoke with my mom I was comforted when she said that they were safe but she doesn’t know until when because water is still rising and our house is flooded up to the ceiling. She said they may need to climb the roof for them to survive. But she also assured me that the water is not rising as fast as it was so they may be able to pass the night safely. I asked if they had food and mom said they had none. I wanted to go home in an instant but mom said even if I did, I will not be able to because the flood is so high and the current is so strong that the rubber boats can’t even get into the house. I also found out form my neighbors that all the roads that are going out of Baguio had been closed because of landslides and many travelers were buried alive. That means that only way I can get out of Baguio was through air travel. This is almost next to impossible since there are no commercial flights here and the only air travel available is via the government chopper. Even up to now, the roads here are closed that’s why we can’t even have basic supplies such as food and gas for the cars. We went to the market yesterday and we cannot even buy some chicken. We have to settle for canned goods.
All I can do at that time was pray and get in touch with other family members to find out their condition. I found out that one of my cousins was also trapped with her almost 3 month’s old baby in a neighbor’s house. Same case as our house, it was flooded and you can’t even see the roof due to the flood. I tried calling some others who can help and tried to seek help from my cousins form manila to at least contact some of my clients to let them know why I was not able to do my job because of what’s happening.
That same night, while I was worried sick about my family, at around 8 pm, the neighborhood got a landslide. 50 houses were affected and washed out due to the land slide. Up to date almost 40 people were buried alive and died because of what happened. That deadly site is just walking distance from our house. In fact, if you look at the window, you will be reminded of the tragedy. Even up to now, I can still see from our window the search and rescue team and I can see them bring out a blanket to cover a recovered body as they carry it to the stretcher to the ambulance. This happens almost every hour of the day. It breaks my heart at the same time I was grateful that t was not us who were being carried in the stretcher. You can see relatives and other family members of the deceased wallow in their pain for the tragic loss of their loved ones. And again I was thankful that it was not us who were going through that pain.
I prayed and prayed that my family and husband’s family will be safe and not have the same tragedy as our neighbors. Thankfully God answered my prayers. No harm was done with any of my family members and they were rescued after more than 24 hours with no food from our neighbor’s house. In as much as I would like to go home and see for myself, up to now the roads are closed and impassable. We also got an update that the house of my husband’s mother’s house was also flooded up to the 2nd floor of the house and like us, almost lost all the properties. However no harm was done.
According to my sister my mom was crying because our flower shop business is also affected. Almost all are lost. From the car, to the motorcycle, to the business and the home furniture and appliances, all were almost lost. Material things were damaged due to the flood. But if we look on the bright side, those thongs can be replaced and we are still lucky that nobody in our family is hurt. Right now, they are safe and had been kindly given assistance and shelter from my brother in laws family. I still haven’t seen them because I can’t go home yet due to impassable roads but they are safe and that’s all that matters.
Here in Baguio, It still hurts to look at my window because there are still unrecovered bodies. Sometimes you can even literally smell death or decaying bodies. It hurts me to look at the window so I have to mask it with thick curtains. Our food is still an issue because we are only limited to buy certain commodities. The city services are down and that includes the internet so I could not work. I have to pay our neighbor who has a generator to charge battery for my computer and cell phones. Well right now, we have electricity already but only at certain hours of the day. The landslide also affected the electric post of our Barangay so we still don’t have stable supply of electricity as well as internet is down for most part for many days now. I need to work again so I can start getting some funds for house repairs and such.
If there is one thing I’m proud of being a Filipino is resiliency. No matter what happens, I know that we can always get back on track. We do it with such grace that we can sometimes even smile and say well that’s life. And that’s my plan. Smile and work hard again because life goes on, now more than ever, I need to work hard for us to be able to recover from the financial burdens of the flood and the disasters. Our family may have lost all material things but our spirit is still uplifted and now is the time for a great start.
I don’t know when the internet will be stable so I can resume working again. We also need time to inspect damages and repair what is left form our house. Aside from the flower shop, my husband’s personal business is also damaged so we have to see what we can do to salvage what is left. We also have to help with repairs for my mother in laws house. Left and right we have obligations to fulfill and help out. In as much as we wanted to do it ASAP we are not able to due to the road closure. Hopefully this coming weekend, we will be able to go home.
I am sick as well right now because of the weather and my son is also sick and I am hoping that he does not get hospitalized. I am not complaining because at this point I feel like we don’t have a right to complain as compared to what happened to our neighbors. I even feel lucky and guilty that I can only do as much to help. Right now what’s keeping me busy while the internet is down and since I can’t work yet without the net, is obviously writing this long account of what happened and during day time cleaning the house and packing some things I could donate for those who have lost everything.
I’m hoping that I could get back to work as soon as everything is fixed so I can start earning again. I may not be able to go back to work full time for now because we have to take care of a lot of things but still would do my best to accommodate as much as I can because I badly need the money as it will help my family start all over again.
To all my cousins and family and to everybody who prayed for our safety, thank you so much. The prayers did more than a miracle. For all of those who had been trying to get in touch and I wasn’t able to get back as soon as possible, I am sorry but I hope that this account will explain why. I’ll try to give another detailed account for the sake of those who are away and want to know if we are safe. For now, again my deepest gratitude for those who have been there to support us.

Why use social networking to gain profit for your business?

As Featured On EzineArticles Social networking is a great way to get in touch with friends and your loved ones but if used wisely it could also be a great tool to gain profit for your business. i need to write: I found myself in google

www.odesk.com

I found myself in google

We all know that i am trying to break through a new career in writing over the internet. It is a hard job because you always felt exhausted after using most of my brain cells that had been stagnant for a long time. I mean pretty much with my old job it was a routine, the only thing that changes was my customers but with the new career everyday or almost every hour is a new challenge.

Most of the time, i would lose my patience and pray for encouragement especially if the money is running low. See i was earning so much before but i figured since i am starting, sacrifice is part of the game. I only wish for encouragement since the money is not yet rolling in. Although, in a month i had accomplish to find stable clients who gives me stable writing jobs. Some would even pay me $3 per article however it is not as frequent as my small writing jobs. So my only consolation at this ppint was encouragement.

OK, so here is the biggest encouragement and i took it as a sign to continue what i am doing. I was given an assignment and needs to research for some ideas. As i was researching i found my article on google and it was the top 4 result. I could not believe it at first so i have to check my files if it was realy mine and it was in fact mine. That got me excited and most of all proud. Even thogh the article was not under my name, i still felt proud because i know that it was mine.I figured maybe this is really the right path for me.

The buyer does not give us updates on where they are posting articles so my discovery was purely accidental.Anyway, for now i will continue to write as it satisfy my hunger for knowledge and its a great past time while earning. who knows i might stumble on myself again on google.

Accidental SEO writer

When I resigned as a call center agent and decided to work at home, I never imagined myself getting into SEO or keyword writing. I did not even know the meaning of SEO. And so there I was clueless and enjoying the state of being jobless until I got bored and decided that I need to be productive for the sake of my decomposing brain. I always wanted to work at home since I have a demanding 2 year old kid that always crave for attention but totally worth it. Anyway, my ever supportive husband tried to ask around to his workmates who happen to be doing some work at home as a part time job. That’s when we got to know about odesk and intrigued us.

We have heard a lot of success stories about high paying work at home jobs. Some of our friends are even rumored to earn 50,000 a month. Roughly that’s a thousand us dollar a month which is already big when it comes to Philippine currency. They said that the first step is to own a computer and an internet connection. So that’s what we did, we bought a computer actually it’s more of borrowed until I can buy my own computer with my back pay from my old company and got internet connection. I still don’t have any idea on SEO or keyword writing at this point. I signed up for odesk and tried to fill up the profile page and took some skills test to showcase and prove that I am knowledgeable on those areas. My idea was to apply as a virtual assistant, data entry or a technical support representative but don’t want to focus on writing as it had been a long forgotten passion. Partly I don’t want to be a writer because I thought that I was rusty in writing anymore and was afraid of starting from scratch again. I applied to a couple of customer service job and always get declined because I lack odesk experience.

One day I decided that I will take any job just as long as I can put an experience on odesk and took a challenge head on. I noticed that there are a lot of Job openings for SEO keyword writing. And so I decided do get to know what SEO is all about since I don’t have the faintest clue on what it is. I don’t even know what SEO stands for. I googled and picked off course like all other surfers would do is to pick the first search results and found out that SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization to some its known as keyword writing. Ok so my eyebrows began to raise and tried my best to research further on SEO and key word writing.

Here is what I understood so far. SEO writing is the type of writing jobs that maximizes search engine results. Basically the concept is like this, when we like any other surfer want to find out a certain topic that you need to research on, you would normally type the words or keywords in search engines and usually click on the first search result that was recommended by google or yahoo or any other search engine because that site contained the most matched words that you are looking for. The main thing here is keywords. For example, like what I did I researched on SEO and keyword writing so I typed SEO writing on the search bar and waited for the search results that contained the keyword that I typed or related words like SEO writers and naturally started from the top going to the bottom search results. Now a lot of companies are spending top dollars to stay on the top search results list thus creating job for SEO writing.

As we all know a company’s website is effectively marketed if there are a lot of viewers on the site or what we call as internet traffic. The more viewers the greater traffic your website creates needing for you to put new contents to it every day so surfers will have something to look forward to. Aside from that the more traffic you generate, the more money you can get because of paid advertisements that is posted on your site like what google is doing with google adsense. I think this is the reason why there’s a need for creative SEO writers every day. There are still a lot of things that needs to be discussed with SEO writing but I will save that for the next post because I had been writing the whole night already and I’m about to throw my keyboard already because I am tired.

On the positive note, just a few days ago I got my first payment in keyword blog writing. Right now I consider myself as a struggling writer hoping to be a well paid writer in the near future. So what happened was I tried to apply in some writing jobs and prayed so hard that I could land any job even if it’s writing and start earning money. I have to start somewhere. Eight days after applying for some writing jobs on odesk someone believed in me and actually hired me and tried to train me on keyword writing or SEO writing. Well up to now I still appreciate the feedback that he is giving me. The assignment was a blog post minimum of 100 words that should contain the keyword that he provided. Articles can be rewritten but must be original and pass copyscape and avoid the mortal sin of plagiarism. More details on the next post. I agreed to be paid a $0.25 per blog post. I’m starting so don’t expect a significant amount. Bottom line is I was happy to land my first job. I did ten blog post for my provider and luckily was awarded with another ten and then thirty more for a total of 50 blog post. I felt blessed because I felt like I was able to gain my providers trust as he keeps on awarding me more jobs. We agreed that he will pay me after 50 blog post. I computed it was $12.50 for my hard work for a couple of days. Imagine my surprised when he paid me $19 for the job. The bonus that I received was more than 50 percent of the agreed amount. Still not a significant amount but let me stress out again that I am just starting and haven’t done this for 15 days yet. That bonus was a needed confidence booster.

Anyhoo, I never thought that I would end up concentrating in SEO writing and actually earn from it. I am enjoying my job so far because it is intellectually stimulating as compared to my previous job and the best bonus is I could be beside my son literally while doing it. Nothing beats that perk, mother son quality time. I’ll try to update my blog in between writing jobs for further practice on my writing skills.
